SHINO ARISAWA
studied koto, shamisen and singing with prominent Japanese musicians, including Seikin II Tomiyama and Koji Kikuhara, who are currently heads of prestigious ryuha (schools) in Japan.

She currently teaches Japanese music (theory and performance) at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, where she obtained her MMus and PhD in Ethnomusicology.

Based in London, she has performed many concerts and given workshops across the UK, often with her colleague musicians to play Sankyoku ensemble music for the koto, shamisen and shakuhachi.
